Nippon Yusen Kaisha sent their first ship to sea in 1885. Today, known simply as NYK Line, they are not only Crystal Cruises' parent company but one of the world's largest shipping companies.
Crystal Cruises was created in 1988 and currently operates two luxury ships: the 940-guest Crystal Symphony (launched in 1995) and the 1,080-guest Crystal Serenity (launched in 2003). Our first ship, Crystal Harmony (launched in 1990), was retired in 2005. Crystal is wholly owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), the largest shipping company in the world. Headquartered in Tokyo, the firm operates over 800 ships, has offices around the globe and is renowned for its fast, reliable and economical service to people around the world.
