NEWS| ‘The Yellow Chilli’ aims for 80 outlets by 2011

Celebrity Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor plans to expand his restaurant brand ‘The Yellow Chilli’ through the introduction of 80 fine dining restaurants under the brand over the next three years. As part of its Indian expansion plans, it is presently in the process of launching the restaurants in Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Powai (in Mumbai).

Presently, the focus is on aggressive development of The Yellow Chilli as a brand. Speaking exclusively to Hospitality Biz, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor states, “We are presently in discussions with several developers and in the process of freezing on multiple locations”. As far as the brand’s international expansions are concerned, he states that joint ventures are under consideration.

Chef Kapoor has earmarked an investment of Rs 40 Crore for the expansion of both brands. He also has a franchise agreement for his restaurant brands with Landmark Group. However, the focus will now be on expanding the brands through ownership and management contracts, informs Kapoor.

When asked about the possibility of launching new brands, Kapoor states, “We aim to launch some new brands, and a few concepts are in the process of research and development.” While he is presently focusing on establishing The Yellow Chilli as a brand, he also plans to introduce new outlets under the brand ‘Grain of Salt’.
