Claridge’s (Maybourne Hotel Group). They look for staff with “exceptional energy, passion, dedication and professionalism” who are trained to “over-deliver” as consistently as possible.
InterContinental Hotels Group. People are hired according to the profile of each of their various brands. There’s a lot of emphasis on their employees speaking the specific brand’s “language”.

Editor| I dont think its very different in India or for that matter anywhere across the world. Most people would look at the personality (I know its not fair, but physical appearance matters) and the ability to appear warm. I also know that managers tend to say things like 'she seems nice', 'was a little arrogant' etc and in essence are just confirming what guests would like to see in their team.
However this is the first hurdle. You would need confidence, communication skills & most deft - Product Knowledge. The better the brand, the more emphasis on what you know!
So? do you have this in you?
