20 hoteliers drop out of Games projects

According to sources in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), as many as 20 hoteliers have opted out of the Games hotel projects.

In March 2008, the ministry had estimated a shortage of around 40,000 rooms, following which the DDA had auctioned 33 plots across the Capital to hoteliers to create around 6,500 rooms.

Of these, around 20 hoteliers have now pulled out of the project.

The names include Amar Hospitality, which was to construct a 512-room hotel in Shahdara; Asrani Inns which was to construct two hotels with 375 rooms at Wazirpur; Breaze Constructions that was to build a hotel with 219 rooms at Rohini; Anush and IFCI Ltd. which were to construct hotels at Shahdara and Mayur Vihar.
