China, India Are Hotel Hot Spots

Although the global economy remains shaky, hotel companies are building a slew of new hotels in parts of Asia and the Middle East.

"China is undoubtedly one of the hottest development areas in the world," says Ian Carter, president of global operations and interim head of development for Hilton Worldwide Inc., citing the country's economic growth, huge population and draw for business travelers.


Many hotels are also opening in India in 2010, specifically in and around New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Calcutta.
