search | The announcement of the winners and those who got the nomination, will be made during the gala dinner that the Committee is organizing on the occasion of the 44th edition of Vinitaly being held in Verona, on Friday the 9th of April, in Cortile del Mercato Vecchio, according to Sara Scotti of the Comitato. During the award ceremony wines from the members of the Committee will be served and guest speakers will also speak about the wine world. Grandi Cru d’Italia was formed in 2006 by 12 Charter members who co-opted 36 other charter members who have stood the test of quality for a minimum of 20 years and include the crème-de-la- crème of the Italian wine industry. The objective was to protect and develop the prestige of wine producing companies that have made great wines according to the wine critics as well as the market- independent of the fads, trends and temporary performances. It has a total of 48 charter members and 130 ordinary members. The committee awards annually to journalists in both the Italian and Foreign categories. The previous awardees in the Best Foreign Journalist category have been James Suckling-Wine Spectator (2007), Jens Priewe and Daniel Thomases (2008) and Michele Shah (2009). Source |
