McDonald’s plans to open 10 outlets in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad

Fast food major McDonald’s, whose menu is more than 50 per cent vegetarian, is taking the green route seriously. McDonald’s currently has 29 outlets in south India and plans to add 10 more in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad by December 2010. Investments for this expansion would be around Rs 45 crore.

Kicking off a campaign to emphasise its separate production lines and processes for its vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings, Ranjit Paliath, Director (South), McDonald’s India said that India was also the only country where the retail chain did not offer pork or beef-based products. He said once brand affinity was established in the existing locations, the company would look at broader market expansion

McDonald’s is also experimenting with the ‘Drive thru’ concept in six of its formats in South India. Paliath said the food service retailer was also looking at offering Web delivery at some outlets.
