The following labels — Nonino Grappa Monovitigno LO Chardonnay in barriques, Nonino Grappa Monovitigno IL Merlot, Grappa Nonino Vendemmia Millesimata and Grappa Anticacuvee Nonino Reserva in barriques will be available in India. The price (all inclusive MRP in Mumbai) ranges from Rs 3,180 for the Chardonnay and Merlot grappa, to Rs 4,500 for the Vendemmia Millesimata, while the reserve is priced at Rs 9,000 respectively.
The Nonino family is the fifth generation of artisnal grappa distillers from the north-eastern Friuli region of Italy and have been commended by the Italian government for being the true ambassadors for grappa across the globe. Contrary to grappa's former identity as a 'poor man's drink' made from pomace (grape residue left after the wine making process), the Nonino's have been credited with bringing finesse and character to the spirit which is now synonymous with luxury, contemporary lifestyle and fashion trends across the globe.
