The call started out as another online prostitution bust. When it ended, two men and a woman were behind bars with another woman quickly leaving the Best Western on Macon Road, police said.
Columbus Police Sgt. Bill Gasaway followed up on a complaint around 5 p.m. Friday. The voice on the other end of the phone said a woman going by the name of "Heather" was working as a prostitute out of the Best Western, 3443 Macon Road, the sergeant said.
Gasaway found the suspect's ad on an online classified website and called the number. Thirty minutes later, he was at the hotel and talking to the woman inside a room, he said.
The scene played out like many others Gasaway has been involved in. The conversation quickly turned sexual, and the woman agreed to $100 to perform sexual acts, he said.
"The other officers came in and took her into custody," Gasaway said. "She was wild and didn't want to be taken into custody."
The woman was loud, and moments later there was a knock at the hotel door.
When officers looked through the window, they saw two men outside.
"We identified ourselves and we detained them to determine what's going on," Gasaway said. "They said they heard her yelling and they wondered what was wrong."
One of the men had some of the woman's money. The other also had some cash on him, the sergeant said.
Through their investigation, police learned there was another woman in the hotel. Officers spoke with the other woman, who told them the men were holding her money, Gasaway said.
"We told her to go," Gasaway said. "We didn't have any charge on her."
Gasaway identified the woman he met with as Evangelina Ursino, 25, of Elkton, Fla. She faces a charge of prostitution.
The sergeant added that Ursino had been arrested in April 2009 at a Warm Springs Road hotel on a similar charge.
The two men were identified by Gasaway as Cornelius Price, 26, and Tracy Coleman, 25, both of Atlanta.
Both face a charge of pimping and Coleman faces an additional charge of giving a false name.
Coleman has an outstanding warrant out of Douglas, Ga., police state.
