Peppermint Hospitality India, run by Arjun Baljee of the Baljee family that owns the Royal Orchid chain of hotels, plans to take the budget boutique brand abroad. The brand was earlier planned to be launched abroad first and then in India, but later, the company decided to launch it in the country first.
Currently, there is only one operational property under the Peppermint brand at Gurgaon in Haryana. The company plans to add six hotels by June 2011 in Baroda, Bangalore, Jodhpur, Goa and Ahmedabad. The company aims at taking the number to 10 by the end of 2011 “We were in talks with a UK-chain of hotels but later the company ceased to exist and our plans were shelved. Now, we are keen to take the Peppermint brand abroad and see lease and management model as the way for it,” said Arjun Baljee, founder & director, Peppermint Hotels India. He, however, did not give a time line for the brand to be launched abroad.
The company will be making an investment of around Rs 30-40 crore in the country over the next one and a half years. Source
