Just months after opening, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake has received its first award: the prestigious “The Best of the Year” China Best Design Hotels Award.
"Presented by The Bund magazine, the China Best Design Hotels Award was created last year to recognise the best-designed hotels in China.
The decision is reached through public voting, independent inspection and judging by a panel of international design experts. The China Best Design Hotels Award extends The Bund’s Design for Life series, which introduces hotels of note to its 518,000 weekly readers in China’s major cities. This year, more than 138 hotels were considered for the China Best Design Hotels Award," Four Seasons Hotel said.
“This is a tremendous honour,” says General Manager Rudolf van Dijk. “The Hotel’s design team had a strong vision, and now it has been recognised with this important award.”
Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake was designed by architecture firm Bilkey Llinas Design. Inspired by the beauty of West Lake and its surrounding hills and countryside, the Hotel is designed in the traditional Jiang Nan style of the region in a series of pagoda-like pavilions. Set among 9 acres (3.6 hectares) of landscaped gardens on the shores of historic West Lake, the Hotel’s grounds feature willow trees, lily ponds, gardens and pathways landscaped by Bensley Design Studios.
Bilkey Llinas Design also led the interior design. The Spa, with its modern imperial style, was designed by Concept Saphyr and Bensley Design Studios. SPIN Design Studios created the signature Jin Sha restaurant.
