Radisson Blu Kuwait closes for year-long renovation

Radisson Blu Hotel, Kuwait, The Rezidor Group's first property outside of Scandinavia, has closed for a major redevelopment project with completion scheduled for next year.

Throughout the renovation, the hotel’s current F&B and events facilities—including Al Hashemi Grand Ballroom, six meeting rooms, popular restaurants Al Boom and Rangoli, and the health and recreation club—will all remain fully operational.

"This renovation is a very exciting time for us,” says GM Phillipe Pellaud. “Once completed, the hotel will be able to offer its loyal and new guests superior design, comfort and facilities—everything that the Radisson Blu brand has become known and trusted for."

Once it reopens, the hotel—which celebrated its 30th anniversary in December—will feature 194 guestrooms with three new distinctive styles of decor: “Naturally Cool,” “And Relax” and “NY Mansion House.” Business-class rooms on the third floor will offer additional features including access to the new glass-walled Sky Lounge, which will provide sweeping views over the Arabian Gulf.

Rezidor’s president and CEO, Kurt Ritter, was the opening GM at the hotel in 1980.

The Radisson Blu is the only Rezidor property currently open in Kuwait. A second property, Hotel Missoni, Kuwait, is slated to open early this year.
