Become a valuable member of an exciting team that delivers top-notch service! We are searching for a Director of Group Sales. As the Director of Group Sales you will play a vital role in the continuing success of our hotel by implementing a successful solicitation strategy to all market segments in order to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Some of the essential functions of the position will include but are not limited to:





35% Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals. This will consist of telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication and file maintenance.



30% Direct and manage all group sales activities, including those of the sales team, to maximize revenue potential and achieve sales goals.



15% Participate in and/or facilitate daily RevMax meeting, sales team meetings, forecast meetings, sales strategy meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales related meetings as required



5% Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel sales staff.



5% Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.



5% Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.



5% Maintain knowledge of market, competition and customers.



SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.



· Professionally represent the hotel at all industry/community functions.



· Participate as a team player with all departments.



· Assist with accurately and timely completion of reports as required and/or collection and analysis of data about our competition.





SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:



· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.



· Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.



· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.



· Must possess basic mathematical/computational ability.



· Must possess basic computer skills.



· Knowledge of all departments of hotel.



· Ability to recruit, supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers.



· Ability to effectively communicate in a friendly and positive manner with internal and external constituents.



· Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints.



· Sales ability and skill in both oral and written form.



· Ability to establish and master goals.



· Ability to identify and develop new accounts and markets.



· Ability to make independent judgments and function with minimal or no supervision.



· Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA.



QUALIFICATION STANDARDS



Education

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.



Experience



* At least 3-5 years of selling experience in a hospitality setting, and 2-3 years of sales leadership experience preferred.



*Knowledge of Morris County a plus.



*Must be able to act as a team leader.



*Ability to supervise, train and counsel direct reports.



*Proven experience in maintaining and building relationships with existing accounts while aggressively developing new business.



*Strong communication skills both written and verbal.



*Be comfortable working independently
