Spice Water Trail Celebrates “Puthandu”-a week long festival to usher in the ‘Tamil New Year’

Puthandu or the New Year's day is a gala time for all Tamils. It Falls in the month of Chittrai ( (April-May) and normally falls on 13th or 14th of April.

The main focus is on the food eaten on the day. 'Maanga Pachadi' is the pulse of the festival. It is a dish made of raw mangoes, Jaggery, Neem flowers which tastes sweet, salt, sour and bitter. This entails different colors of life. It depicts that life has to face everything from success to defeat, Pain and Happiness..

At Spice Water Trail, we celebrate the Tamil New year all week long with special Tamil Meal platters, both Veg and Non-Veg starting from 12th till the 17th of April.

The Tamil Veg Platter priced at Rs 350/- + taxes, will have Two Veg Starters (Vegetable Bondas and Paniyaram) , Three Vegetables ( Beans Poriyal, Vegetable Kurma, Raw Banana Kootu), Mango Pachadi, Sarkkara Pongal, Kesari Bhaath, Ghee Rice, Poori , Achaar and Appallams with Rasam.

The Tamil Non-Veg platter priced at 425/- +taxes, with have Two Starters ( Chicken Ghee Roast and Mutton Varuval), Chicken Chettinard, Mutton Kurma, Cabbage Poriyal, Mango Pachadi, Sarkkara Pongal, Kesari Bhaath, Ghee Rice, Poori , Achaar and Appallams with Rasam.

Both Platter have unlimited serving of the dishes.

The Tamil New year is also the Harvest Festival and the Tamils celebrate it with adorning their homes with Fresh fruits and Vegetables to symbolize great harvest. Spice Water Trail follows suit with tender coconuts and fresh Fruits and Vegetables.
