In a letter to employees, Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian calls last week's shocking move against striking workers at the Park Hyatt Chicago hotel "deeply disappointing to me both personally and professionally."
During the July 21 demonstration outside the hotel entrance, an unidentified manager flipped on the switch to 10 heat lamps beneath the hotel canopy - precisely where workers walking in a picket line. The incident happened while Chicago was in the midst of a heat wave.
The manager - who wasn't identified - "has since left the company," Hoplamazian wrote in the July 27 letter.
