New World Hospitality has promoted Symon Bridle to chief operating officer and has appointed John Shamon as senior vice president – technical services.
Mr. Bridle joined New World Hospitality in 2009 as senior vice president – operations. In his new role, Mr. Bridle optimises day-to-day operations to support the company’s aggressive expansion plan.
Before joining New World Hospitality, Mr. Bridle worked with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for 18 years where he held senior corporate management positions in development and operations divisions, leading both of these disciplines at various times, including as COO. He held several general manager postings at leading Shangri-La hotels. Mr. Bridle previously worked with Southern Sun Hotels and Westin Hotels in South Africa and in luxury hotels in Switzerland and Bermuda. Mr. Bridle has more than 30 years experience in the hospitality industry.
As senior vice president – technical services, Mr. Shamon leads the project development and engineering teams in operation planning, design management and engineering services on behalf of a robust pipeline of renovations and future projects.
Mr. Shamon has more than 34 years experience in the technical services field, particularly in the areas of operational planning and project management. Before joining New World Hospitality, Mr. Shamon was the group director of technical services for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, overseeing the planning, interior design, project management and engineering functions for all new and existing Mandarin Hotels worldwide. He was 20 years with Hyatt, including a position as vice president, technical services for Asia Pacific. He joined Hyatt’s divisional food and beverage team in Hong Kong in 1989 and was appointed director in the corporate technical services department in Chicago. Mr. Shamon started his career at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge where he held various food and beverage management positions.
Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality manages the New World Hotels brand of deluxe properties in China and Southeast Asia, as well as the select service pentahotels brand currently represented in Shanghai and Beijing. The group is aggressively expanding its portfolio with more than 20 properties under development. The company is a member of New World Group, a Hong Kong-based leading conglomerate and principal investor in many New World Hospitality properties, which has owned and developed world class, luxury hotel properties for 20 years.
