White Lodging employee Rene Rice, Senior Catering Sales Manager at the Westin Austin at the Domain, was named to the Presidents List of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE). The announcement was made at the NACE National Conference held in late July at the Silver Legacy Resort in Reno, Nevada.
“This is such an honor for me. A large part of my success in the industry, I contribute to my involvement and the support received within NACE,” said Rice. The President’s List recognizes NACE members who go above and beyond to support their local NACE chapter and NACE National. NACE has more than 4,000 members and is the oldest and largest professional association dedicated to all aspects of the catering industry.
Rene was part of the opening team for the only Westin in Austin which opened March 2010. In her role as Senior Catering Manager, Rene takes pride in selling the hotel’s 17,000 square feet of functional space, which includes the beautiful 8,000 square foot Primrose Ballroom. “I’m really proud of the venue we have at the Westin,” Rice said. “We can host meetings and special occasions for groups as small as ten to up to 800 guests.”
NACE has more than 40 local chapters across the country and Rice is currently Vice-President of the Austin Chapter. At the chapter level, members get peer-to-peer idea sharing, have opportunities to build professional relationships, are able to learn the latest industry news, and also serve as mentors for those new to the industry.
