Les Clefs d’Or India, which has recenty inducted new committee members in Concierge Association of India (CAI)-Western Region, has now ventured into Southern India with the formation of CAI Bengaluru. The meeting and election of members for CAI-Bengaluru was held recently at Taj West End, Bangalore.
CAI-Bengaluru will have nine committee members holding the office for two years. Srikishen Raghunath from Mövenpick Hotel & Spa, Bangalore is the President for CAI-Bengaluru.

The other office bearers of CAI-Bengaluru are Sandeep Chopra, The Oberoi, Bangalore (First Vice President); Varun Pais, Taj Westend, Bangalore (Second Vice President); Saurav Banerjee, The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore ( General Secretary); Surinder Anand, The Oberoi, Bangalore (Treasurer); Rehan Rizvi, ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru (PRO); Sumit Pandey, The Leela Palace, Bangalore (Regional Coordinator & Social Service Officer); Shanmugam A, ITC Windsor, Bengaluru (Committee Member); Venkatesan C, Sheraton Bangalore at Brigade Gateway (Committee Member).

Speaking with Hospitality Biz, Raghunath said, “As of now we have 19 members out of which seven are adherent members of Les Clefs d’Or India. We want to ensure that Les Clefs d’Or India can mark its presence in South India as it not as strong as in Mumbai and Delhi region. We want hotels in Bengaluru and other parts of South India to be aware about the concierge's potential and the ability. My focus and goal will be on the training and development of our members. As like other region, the first thing we would like to have is our own map. Vendors in Bengaluru are already aware about our presence. Step by step we intend to go forward and with time we will develop and grow.”

Edwin Saldanah, President, Les Clefs d’Or India informed, “With the formation of CAI-Bengaluru, we have our strong presence in three regions, i.e. Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Our aim is to expand and mark our presence especially the cities, which has five-star hotels. In Hyderabad, we have 12 members actively working to develop the concierge in South India and in next month, we will be forming a small group of concierge in Goa as well. We have more than 400 active members on Facebook and I am working on a common Facebook page for Asian Concierge members, which will enable us to share our views, help to network with each other etc. I am also working to arrange a training programme for our members with international guests.”

CAI-Bengaluru will be hosting its first event in December 2011, where Les Clefs d’Or India members from all across India will converge along with the General Managers from hotels in Bengaluru. Also, we are keen to host the next Les Clefs d’Or India annual general meeting in Bengaluru. In last few months, we have got support from the General Managers and atleast we have one member from each hotel in Bengaluru, added Raghunath.
