Mahindra Holidays and Resorts has recently acquired The Retreat by Zuri, Goa and will take over the operations of the property from January 2012. According to a release, the 106 room establishment was sold by Zuri Group Global for approximately Rs 112 crore. The decision is said to have been taken due to over-exposure resulting from the existence of two Zuri Group Global properties in Goa (including the one sold to Mahindra Holidays and Resorts). The decision taken will help reduce debts and completely refurbish Zuri Group Global ’s other 37-acre property in Goa, as well as aid in the group's plans for aggressive growth in the future.
Bobby Kamani, Managing Director, Zuri Group Global said, “It was quite an interesting deal that Mahindra Holidays and Resorts made with us for The Retreat by Zuri, Goa and it works in our benefit. The money that this deal will bring in will primarily be used for revamping of our other property, The Zuri Whitesands, Goa Resort and Casino, a hotel of choice amongst Europeans and Indians alike.”
