Best Western International has set an ambitious target of managing 100 hotels in India in the next five years. Currently, Best Western has 26 hotels in operations and eight other properties under different stages of development in India. These properties will come up at Mumbai, Kolkata, Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Kodaikanal, Bengaluru, Goa and Bhubaneswar and will become operational this year. While establishing multiple properties in metro cities, Best Western has plans to target Tier II and III cities in India for future expansion. At the same time, the company would also try to push their premium five-star brand, Best Western Premier, and four-star brand, Best Western Plus, in the market in the coming years.
Announcing their plans for the India market, David Kong, President & CEO, Best Western International said that they are very excited about Indian market, and it is vital for their overall growth. “Best Western International is focused on expansion of its presence in India and is confident that India will play a prominent role in the global growth plan of the company,” he said. Kong said that Best Western as a brand offers highest freedom and flexibility to the owners, but at the same time provides world-class marketing, distribution, channel management, and operational support. “We actually empower the owners. Unlike other franchise and management brands, we offer a lot of choice to them, and our goals and objectives are aligned with the goals and objectives of the owners,” he added. Devang Amin, Chairman, Best Western International, a US-based hotelier of Indian origin, said that 60 per cent of the Best Western membership in the US are people of Indian origin and they have a lot to learn and offer to the Indian hospitality industry here. “India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and offers a lot of growth opportunities for investors. The long-term strategy in India is to have 50 per cent of the brand portfolio under four and five-star branding.”
