Retail Food Group Limited (RFG), the company behind quick service restaurant (QSR) brands such as Brumby's Bakeries, Donut King, and Michel's, has added the Pizza Capers chain to its stable. The group recently announced that it has entered into a conditional agreement acquiring the Pizza Capers franchise system, which has 110 outlets throughout Australia.
All the outlets have been acquired for USD 30 million. “The transaction represents the culmination of an 18-month engagement, during which each party has become well acquainted with the others business and operational philosophy,” said Tony Alford, Chief Executive, RFG in a statement. Anthony Russo, Co-Founder, Pizza Capers said, “We are excited by the opportunities that will be created for the system and its franchisees when incorporated within the infrastructure and sophistication that RFG offers and are committed to ensuring the system continues to flourish under RFG's ownership.” Alford added, “It’s not just an excellent franchise system, but it has been built with a penetrating brand that is all about quality. It’s not a price-driven product.” The Pizza Capers system, which focuses on gourmet pizza and related products, was established in Brisbane in 1996. 77 of the group's 110 outlets are based in south-east Queensland while the remaining stores are in regional Queensland, NSW, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, Tasmania and Singapore. RFG said that during the past 18 months Pizza Capers had distinguished itself within a highly competitive market and the brand would complement and enhance RFG's franchise systems, as per a report in Sydney Morning Hearld. The Pizza Capers settlement is expected around April.
