Indian Culinary Forum (ICF), the organisers of Culinary Art India, the annual culinary competition held as part of AAHAR, has demanded larger space for conducting the event, from India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), from next year. The demand was raised by Chef Davinder Kumar, President, ICF during the award ceremony organised to facilitate the winners of the culinary competitions on the final day of AAHAR 2012 in New Delhi.
About 225 chefs from hotels, restaurants, and culinary institutes participated in the five-day long event in 14 different categories. Speaking on the occasion, Chef Nalin Fonseka, International Pastry Chef, and the Chairman of the Judging Panel of the competition said that there has been 'general improvement' in terms of the quality of the competition and Culinary Art India has evolved from a city competition to a national competition over the years. However, he said that the improvements had to be faster. He advised the contestants to read and understand the rule books of the competitions before coming for the event. Competitions were held in categories like 3-Tier Wedding Cake, Artistic Pastry Chef, Vegetable & Fruit Carving, Plated Appetisers, 3-course set dinner menu, Authentic Indian Regional Cuisine, Mocktail competition, etc. Rita Menon, Chairperson, ITPO, who was present on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Chef community and assured all support for the event at all the domestic and international events of ITPO.
