NEWS | Sun Resorts to open Ambre Resort & Spa; its fifth property in Mauritius in October 2012

Sun Resorts Ltd recently acquired Ambre Resort & Spa in Mauritius. The property formerly owned by Apavou Hotels Resorts & Spa has been acquired for an initial investment of EUR 10 million. The company has also appointed Knack Marketing, an India-based travel representation specialist to promote the hotel in the Indian market.
The four-star rated, 297-room hotel is located on the east of Mauritius, in Palmar. The hotel undergoing renovation since January 2012 is planned to open in October this year. The property has a 700-metres long white natural sandy beach running along a sheltered bay. Out of the 297 rooms, Ambre Resort & Spa has 100 standard rooms, 178 superior rooms, 17 family units and two suites. It offers four restaurants and three bars. The property also provides facilities such as water sports, land sports, golf area, shopping and entertainment zone, and night clubs among others. “With our expertise and our network of trade partners throughout the world, we will maximise all opportunities offered by this acquisition. Ambre hotel gives Sun Resorts a better product offering and will enable us to cater to a younger market segment,” said Arnaud Martin, Chief Marketing Officer, Sun Resorts Ltd. With this acquisition, Sun Resorts will now operate five properties in Mauritius including Le Touessrok, The Long Beach, The Sugar Beach and La Pirogue. “This deal enables Sun Resorts to operate, commercialise and manage the hotel under the Ambre name as part of the Sun Resorts Ltd portfolio, effective since October 1, 2012. The lease agreement stands for an initial period of five years, with an option to renew the agreement for further fifteen years. This deal enables Sun Resorts to consolidate its position in the very competitive four-star segment. Ambre offers numerous assets which create immediate value to Sun Resorts,” said Medha Sampat, India Representative, Sun Resorts and Owner, Knack Marketing. Sampat stated that Sun Resorts is catering to all the segments and has a unique offering for the Indian market. “Last year Sun Resorts opened The Long Beach, a new chapter in modern hotel history in Mauritius. The upbeat urban beach resort – vibrant, free and easy with strong contrasts, is one of a kind in the paradise island of Mauritius,” added Sampa
