NEWS | UD Ministry asked to recover Rs 516 crore from Delhi hotels

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has asked the Urban Development (UD) ministry to take urgent steps to recover an outstanding amount of Rs 516.19 crore that are owed to it by some of the capital's leading hotels. The PAC which is chaired by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today presented its 59th report in which it made these recommendations on the functioning of the Land and Development Office (LDO) which falls under the UD ministry. The report said that the
Committee had sought information related to outstanding ground rent and other dues owed by hotels which had been allotted government land by the LDO. The PAC report said that out of the 21 such hotels, it was given details of 11 hotels of which eight hotels collectively owed recoverable dues to the extent of Rs 516.19 crore. The committee in its report said that outstanding dues included Rs 304 crore against Bharat Hotel, Rs 97.94 crore against Samrat Hotel, Rs 60.90 crore against Le Meridian Hotel and Rs 29.57 crore against Taj Man Singh hotel.
