NEWS | Francesco's Pizzeria plans to expand in Tier-II and III markets

Francesco's Pizzeria, owned by Rajani Food Services and Hospitality Pvt Ltd, recently opened its first outlet in Mumbai, and now plans to expand further in the city, as well as Tier-II and III cities in India. According to Mikhel Rajani, CEO, Rajani Food Services and Hospitality Pvt Ltd, the Mumbai outlet has received good response so far, and if it achieves a level of profit over the next six months, the company will open at least two more establishments in Mumbai in the suburbs,
and simultaneously move into other cities as well. "We started Francesco's Pizzeria in an attempt to offer gourmet pizzas in the city. New concepts always do well, whether in big cities or smaller ones, and one of the best places for businesses like this are the Tier II and III cities. They have a lack of food & beverage offerings and the spending power to enjoy it if available. We would like to move into cities like Pune and Ahmedabad and take it from there. We are currently waiting to see if the first Mumbai outlet achieves the profit benchmark we have kept for it over the next six months, following which we will start looking for more properties in the Mumbai suburbs, possibly Bandra, Lower Parel or Powai," said Rajani. Rajani further revealed that the new outlets will be larger than the first one, which focuses mainly on deliveries rather than dine-ins. The new establishments will also see extended menus which will include more Italian dishes and a dessert bar. "Mumbai is an open and trendy city which always welcomes new concepts, and currently there isn't much competition in the market. This will not be the case in the next five years, especially with even the old companies upscaling their brands, and I feel there is a need to strike while the iron is hot," added Rajani. Rajani Food Services and Hospitality Pvt Ltd also imports and distributes Italian Ornella Merlot wines to wine collectors and enthusiasts in Mumbai. Speaking about further ventures, Rajani stated, "I will definitely not stop with just Francesco's Pizzeria. I have a couple of other concepts in mind. However, it is too early to disclose their details. Once I get about three or four of the Francesco's Pizzeria outlets up and running, I will look for partnerships to start the other concepts as well."
