NEWS | AP Tourism Minister directs district tourism officials to follow MoT rules

Pema Khandu, Tourism Minister, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh (AP) has urged the state Tourism Department officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down by the Union Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in respect to tourism-related schemes. While presiding over the two-day annual review meeting in Itanagar on June 18, 2012, Khandu directed the Tourism Department officers, particularly the district tourism officers,
to make sure that all the new schemes are routed from the District-Level Tourism Development Committee (DLTDC), informed sources. "No scheme should be entertained directly by the State Tourism Department, which does not follow the guidelines laid down by the MoT," Khandu said. "Prospective schemes and required infrastructure in the designated tourist circuits cannot be prepared sitting in an air-conditioned room. We require a proper field survey for that," Khandu said, while underscoring the need to route the schemes through the DLTDC, which has better knowledge about their respective districts, according to a TOI report. The schemes forwarded by the DLTDC shall be thoroughly scrutinised by the state-level monitoring committee headed by the Secretary of the State Tourism Department before submission to the MoT, added Khandu.
