The operator of a hotel in Godhra was arrested recently after he failed to inform the Panchmahal district police regarding the stay of two foreign nationals at the Hotel Satluj in the town.
The special operations group of the Panchmahal district police had conducted a check at the hotels in the Godhra town on Tuesday.
During the checking it came to light that two persons - one from Israel and another from Switzerland - had stayed at the Sutlej Hotel in the Bhuravav area in Godhra. It transpired that the foreign nationals had stayed in the hotel recently. While the hotel staff had collected the copies of the passport and visa of the two persons who stayed at the hotel, they had failed to inform the district police regarding them, said a report in TOI. As per the rules, a 'C' form has to be filled by the hotel owner and this has to be submitted to the police. The hotel was operated by SM Saini who now has been arrested. This is the second incident of its kind in the district. Earlier a hotel manager in Halol had run into trouble after he failed to inform the police regarding the stay of Chinese nationals at his hotel. Failing to inform the police regarding the stay of a foreign national at a hotel is an offence under the Foreigner's Act, officials said.
