NEWS | J&K Tourism Dept. and BDA to organise tourism festival from June 24-27, 2012 in Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah town in Doda district of Jammu will host a four-day tourism-cum-cultural festival from June 24 to attract domestic and foreign tourists to the region. "The annual Bhaderwah tourism-cum-cultural festival is being organised by Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) in collaboration with District Administration Doda and Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department from June 24 -27," said Kalyan Singh, CEO, BDA.
Various government departments and private stakeholders are expected to set-up stalls at the venue to provide first hand information regarding government schemes and variety of products to the public. The inaugural function will be held at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Bhaderwah. Bhaderwah has a chain of tourist destinations like high altitude Seojdhar meadowland with chain of ice-water fed streams, resort place Jai and top tourist spots Nalthi, Gatha and Khellani apart from pilgrim and watersport destinations. "During the festival adequate boarding and lodging facility will be provided to the visitors, concerned agencies have been asked to ensure availability of transport facility from Bhaderwah to all venues of the festival," said Singh. Various cultural activities are scheduled including a national level mushaira on June 24 by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages as well as cultural programmes by school children. According to a PTI report, sports such as paragliding, river crossing, rappelling, tree climbing, etc., would be conducted by the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering.
