Worldhotels has tied-up with four-star Golkonda Hotel in Hyderabad, as part of its expansion plan in India. The tie-up with the Golkonda Hotel is on an annual fee basis, and is expected to boost international bookings for the hotel. "Currently, the Asia Pacific region contributes 26 per cent to the company’s global sales revenues of USD 260 million. Going forward, we expect the number to go up as we are planning to bring in more properties under our portfolio from the region," said Christina Spykerman, Senior Director of Sales (Asia Pacific), Worldhotels. With the targeted portfolio expansion, India is likely to contribute five per cent to Worldhotels’ global sales by 2014, as compared to about two per cent at present. "Apart from the major cities, we are looking at four and five-star hotels in Tier-II cities to capitalise growth opportunities," Spykerman said. The company has plans to open sales offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru in the coming years, according to a Business Standard report. Worldhotels is currently associated with 12 properties under its India portfolio. "We expect to have 20 properties in India within a year. The emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region are growing big-scale with countries like India and China being the key growth drivers. We have opened sales offices in New Delhi and will be opening an office in Beijing," she added. Golkonda Hospitality is also planning to set up a hotel at Mysore in Karnataka with an investment of Rs 200 crore; and a 100-room hotel at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, Reddy added.
