Sofitel Luxury Hotels yesterday held its first 'Sofitel Sales Mission 2012' presentation workshop of its luxury properties in Mumbai at Sofitel Mumbai BKC. The sales representative from Sofitel Sukhmvit, Sofitel Krabi, Sofitel So Bangkok, Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, Sofitel Mauritius and Sofitel Cambodia showcased their hotels during the two sessions (morning and afternoon). Speaking to Hospitality Biz, Anthony Slewka-Armfelt, Regional Director of Sales, Sofitel South East Asia & India, said, “This is for the first time, we conducted a workshop,
rather an informative session to meet with the senior representatives from Sofitel Luxury Hotels in Thailand, Cambodia, Mauritius and Dubai. It was a perfect platform to showcase some of our luxury properties in the region, which is unique with its architecture design and the facilities. We hope, the workshop of this kind would help travel agents to gauge what Sofitel has to offer to its guests.” Dubai has always been a favourite destination for holiday-goers and also a preferred venue for marriage among the affluent Indians. Prakash Shetty, Senior Sales Manager, Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, said, “We plan to target the Free Individual Travellers (FIT) and Group Inclusive Tour (GIT) segments in India. We have been concentrating on the European market for quite some time, and now have decided to focus even on the Indian market. Alongside the FIT and GIT segments, we plan to tap the wedding segment in India. We have some unique offerings, which will appeal to high-end travellers.” Shetty was in Mumbai to make a presentation on Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach to travel trade. Gilles Cretallaz, General Manager, Sofitel So Bangkok and Area General Manager, Sofitel Thailand, said, “Our mission was to introduce the hotel to the Indian market, there is a huge potential for hi-end leisure market coming to Thailand from India. And to cater to this growing segment, we already have a dedicated Indian chef at our restaurant as well.” The hotel also wants to focus on the hi-end Indian wedding market. Indian weddings in Bangkok are quite large, he stated, “Bangkok is a preferred location among the Indian families and honeymoon goers because of its exotic landscape. And Sofitel So Bangkok is the first flagship Sofitel property in South East Asia, which reflects the French tradition of elegance and hospitality. This hotel represents perfectly our new positioning: a luxury hotel with a difference, individual and non – standardised. Through
