Since 2005, Santa Monica, California-based Macerich has co-owned the centre with the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp., which has invested in the centre since 1985, according to a report by Chicago Business Journal.
An expansion of the hotel will include an elevated outdoor plaza, conference centre, restaurant, bar and lounge, business centre and meeting and events space.
