As part of its expansion plans in India, European hotel chain Accor, plans to open 10 hotels in the country this year. The company is going to be bullish on midscale and economy segment for its expansion, according to a senior official.
“Our know-how is established in the midscale and the economy. That’s where our attention is from a development point of view. This year we are going to open 10 hotels in India,”
said Jean-Michel Cassé, Senior Vice President Operations, Accor Hospitality, India.
According to Cassé, this year is important for the company as its launching brands its bullish about and there will be big volume in terms of number of rooms.
“We are opening ibis hotel at the Delhi airport which will open by March or April of this month. It has an inventory of 350 rooms. We have two to three ibis hotels coming up this year. It’s an important year for our Novotel brand because under this brand we expect to open one hotel in Ahmedabad, Goa, Pune and Calcutta. Calcutta is a new city for Accor,” Cassé said.
