NEWS | Hotels in B'lore tighten security following blast

Scene from the Bangalore blast

Hotels in Bangalore are beefing up their security systems and inducing various measures to scan every person and object getting in in the wake of the Malleswaram blast. From sniffer dogs to limiting entry points to installing more CCTV cameras and metal detectors, hotels are doing it all to ensure a safe environment.
Nitin Pathak, general manager, Citrus Hotels, says they have brought down their entry points to two from the earlier three. "Previously, we had one access point for our suppliers and vendors, one for guests and one for our staff. Now we have closed down the suppliers entry point and re-deployed the security to the other two entry points.

So we have three security guards at each entry point." Some hotels have also made it mandatory for advance online bookings from guests. "We have stopped walk-ins for guests. People wanting a room need to book online in advance giving necessary details. Also it is compulsory for them to carry a government photo ID card when checking in," says Pathak. Experts say the hotel business can see a decline post unfortunate events like blasts. "There can be a drop in the number of foreign tourists though the number of Indian tourists would remain stable," says a senior official from a city based hotel chain.
