In a bid to revive its Hospitality Management Institute started with much fanfare in 2005 in Greater Noida, Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) has tied up Institute for Technology & Management (ITM) Group of Institutions to manage the Institute from the coming academic year.
With this tie-up FHRAI Institute of Hospitality Management will be renamed as ITM-FHRAI Institute of Hospitality & Management.
Started with an objective of promoting and developing hospitality talent at par with international standard by tying up with Hotel School, Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne, Switzerland initially, the Institute has not been doing well ever since the overseas partner withdrew their support to the institute mid-way.
The current tie-up with ITM Group of Institutions is seen as an attempt to revamp the world-class infrastructure in Greater Noida with the help of a partner who has a domain knowledge and expertise. Vijay Pande, Honorary Secretary, FHRAI was quoted as saying that the decision to hand over the institute to ITM has been taken after considering their track-record in the hospitality education.
He said that as per the tie up a Board with the President of FHRAI as the Chairman will govern and monitor the running of the institute. “We look at a long-term tie up. They have good experience and track-record of running educational institutes successfully in different parts of the country,” said Pande.
For the forthcoming academic session, the ITM-FHRAI Institute will offer two three-year degree programmes - BA in International Hospitality & Tourism Management; and BA in Culinary Arts, and ITM’s one-year Diploma programme in Patisserie and Confectionery.
