Dr K Chiranjeevi, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Tourism, Government of India, today sanctioned a special financial package of Rs 100 crore for restoration and reconstruction of the floods-affected government tourist facilities in Uttarakhand. The assistance comes as a relief to the tourism and hospitality industry of the state which is battered by the floods.
This package will be rolled out in addition to the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of about Rs 95 crore sanctioned during the current financial year (2013-14) for developing tourism infrastructure in the state.
The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) has already urged the Central Government to provide a comprehensive relief package to the hospitality and tour operators in Uttarakhand affected in the natural calamity. The association will soon meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan to discuss the concerns in details.
