NEWS | Savourites Hospitality to add 15 restaurants in India in two years

Savourites Hospitality, which owns popular restaurant chains like 6, Ballygunge Place (for Bengali cuisine) and The Wall (for pan Asian cuisine), is planning to add 15 more restaurants in India, including some in tier-II, tier-III cities within a span of two years. It has almost finalised its next destination, Delhi, they said, followed by Mumbai. “Bengali cuisine, with its delicacy, detailing and diversity, has the potential to come up as India’s national cuisine.
And that’s exactly what our objective is. We are looking at eight-nine restaurants in metros and the remaining ones on tier-II, tier-III locations like Siliguri, Burdwan, 7Guwahati and Rourkella, to name a few,” said S Ramani, founder director & service enhancer, Savourites. The company is also looking locations abroad like Manhattan in New York and London. To back up its expansion plans, the company is also preparing for its maiden IPO over the next two years, Financial Chronicle quoted Ramani as saying. The company at present runs five fine dining restaurants — four in Kolkata and one in Bangalore.

At present, as much as 60 per cent of the company’s business comes from catering. 6, Ballygunge Place is Kolkata’s first Bengali period dining brand showcasing history of gourmet Bengali cuisine. Significantly, it has already become the first retail outlet in India getting its trademark registered as an address.
