After completing his Diploma for Food Production in 1991 from Aligarh Muslim University in India, Chef Akil started his career in hospitality industry as a Commis Chef trainee at the Rajputana Palace Sheraton Jaipur in India on 1992. He got an opportunity to join the Southern Pacific Hotels Corporation as a Commis II in New Delhi, and was offered to work with Dubai World Trade Center managed by Hilton Group in 1995 as Commis I a year after in which he stayed for 3 years.
In 1998, he moved to Sofitel City Centre (currently Pullman Deira City Centre) as Chef De Partie. From there on, he got promoted into several positions and reached the position of Executive Chef in January 2010. In December 2012, he was sent to Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche for a task force mission which lasted in 3 months.
