Radisson Blu Plaza hotel, as a part of its first anniversary celebrations, is launching Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for the first time in Hyderabad.
Eight corporates and non-governmental organisations will be presented the awards in recognition of their contribution to the society, Radisson general manager Nishan Silva said here.
"We have listed out some 400 corporate companies and NGOs for the awards. A jury of eminent people will select eight finalists for the awards which will be presented on September 13," Silva told reporters here today.
The awards would honour those who have contributed their bit for the betterment of Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh, he added.
The hotel, as part of its first anniversary, has lined up a series of events over the next two months.
Talking about the business in general, Silva said that the twin blasts in February did have some impact.
"Though the overall occupancy rate has been 57 per cent, it has seen a 12 per cent dip after the Dilsuknagar bomb blasts in February," the general manager said.
"Hotel business is badly hit in Hyderabad after the blasts. Also, the power crisis in the state has also adversely affected the hotel industry. While the average occupancy rate for all star hotels in Hyderabad was 55-60 per cent a year, it has fallen by 12 per cent after February," Silva said.
