Alex Cabañas has been named president and CEO of Benchmark Hospitality International. Benchmark also announced it will promote Greg Champion to executive vice president and COO. Both positions will officially start on Jan. 1, 2014.
The company grossed $19.1 million in 2012, and landed on the 2013 HispanicBusiness 500 index at No. 221. Burt Cabañas, Alex's father, launched the Texas enterprise in 1980 after climbing the ranks of Miami's hospitality sector. He will remain active in the company's future.
"Alex's contributions to our company over the last eight years have enabled Benchmark Hospitality to double in size and strategically strengthened our capabilities," the senior Cabañas said in a statement. "He has also been instrumental in enhancing relationships with our property owners and has expanded our knowledge in the capital markets. Most importantly, his leadership and organizational development expertise helped us to clearly define and enhance our 'Be the Difference' culture."
