HRAEI appoints Deepak Puri as its President

Deepak Puri has been elected as the president of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI) during its 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kolkata. Puri is a partner at the restaurant Trinca's in Kolkata.


 The other members of the newly formed executive committee of HRAEI include: Nitin S. Kothari, sole proprietor; Peter Cat as senior vice president; V K Kapur, partner, Hotel Minerva as VP; Rajiv Gogia, director, Ashoka Restaurant and Bar as secretary; Ravindra Kumar Kashuka, proprietor, Green Inn as joint secretary; Pratap Daryanani, managing partner, Oasis Restaurant as treasurer and Harshad Kundalia, proprietor, Ratnakar Inn as joint treasurer. The newly elected president pledged to ensure food safety and maintenance of standard norms.

Talks about setting up an international level food testing laboratory also took place. Besides this, HRAEI would also focus on promoting tourism in the entire eastern and north-eastern states. Puri said that the association will serve as an effective voice for the industry and take up with the respective state governments on all vital policy decisions and governance pertaining to the hospitality and tourism sector. Puri has also been appointed as one of the vice presidents of Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the parent body of the hotel and restaurant owners. The six members nominated for FHRAI, the parent body for 2013-2014 to represent from eastern region are Deepak Puri, Nitin S Kothari, Rajiv Gogia, Ashoke Singh, Arun Sharma and Gopal Das Agarwal.
