US headquartered hospitality major Marriott International has brought its seventh brand offering to India, with the opening of its mid-market Fairfield brand in Bangalore.
By the end of this month Marriott will roll out India's first Ritz Carlton in Bangalore, which will be the company's eighth brand offering. Don Cleary, COO, Asia Pacific, Marriott International, believes that India's appetite for hotel rooms has reached its tipping point, as the Indian middle class, expected to grow from 200 million to 500 million by the end of the decade, will drive hotel room consumption. "You will see the middle class emerge from different tiers of travel and fuel demand across price segments," says Cleary, who spoke to TOI on Marriott's India plans.
