A 21-year-old woman was found murdered in a hotel room at Santa Cruz (W) on Thursday evening. The police suspect her missing boyfriend's role in the case and are inquiring about him.
The victim, Rashida Suratwala, a Santa Cruz (E) resident, had checked into Milan International hotel around 3.30pm on Thursday along with a female relative. Rashida then called her boyfriend, Shahid Shaikh, for a meeting at the hotel room. After Shaikh arrived, the relative left the room to give them privacy.
When she returned around 7pm, the relative found the room door was locked from inside. No one was responding to the door bell. She informed the hotel staff. When they opened the room, they found Rashida lying motionless on the bed. Shaikh was missing. The hotel management called a doctor who declared Rashida dead. The police suspect that the accused strangled her. The police collected the CCTV footage from the hotel and inquiring the hotel employees about the incident. The police informed the victim's family and are inquiring with the relative for a clue
