Kenya: Monarch Group Raises Hospitality Portfolio With Sh1 Billion Investment

The Monarch Group - whose investments span insurance, real estate and hospitality - is ramping up its portfolio with luxury facilities, which will see it spend up to $12 million (Sh1 billion) by August 2014. It has set up Jambo Chester Hotels & Resorts, under which eight hospitality facilities spread across the country and Tanzania will be operated.

Monarch Group - associated with businessman and politician Jared Kangwana - owns Monarch Insurance and a raft of properties including The Mall-Westlands, Chester House and Communications Centre which houses the Royal Media Services group. It also owns Tamasha Corporation Ltd, a music production and distribution house.
Chester House, in the heart of the CBD, is being renovated into a full hotel offering from previous operations as fully furnished, serviced and self-catering apartments. It has 84 rooms, the largest of Jambo Chester Hotels & Resorts operations
