Stenden South Africa and Northside Consulting to jointly develop Minor Specialisation in Hotel Opening Management

Stenden South Africa and Northside Consulting announced today their plans for the development of a Minor in hotel opening management.

This will be a first of its kind in the hospitality sector globally.

Wouter Hensens, Executive Dean of Stenden South Africa said: “Based on extensive discussions over the past 12 months with hotel opening process expert Gert Noordzy and industry partners, we have made the decision to introduce this specialisation minor to respond to a clear request from the hotel industry to equip our students with this specific expertise.” Gert Noordzy, Managing Director of Northside Consulting said: “The hotel industry is booming. The worldwide hotel pipeline now stands at 11,130 projects comprising 1.9 million rooms, the highest level ever recorded.

This Minor will be designed to prepare the next generation of hospitality leaders for the rigours of opening hotels globally. It will cover all phases of the new hotel project life cycle.” “A multi-disciplinary and talented group of academics and industry professionals is working together on the development of a curriculum for this 9-week specialisation” said Wouter Hensens. “The Pilot Program will be rolled out later this year with a small group of students. The Minor have its first official intake of students in February 2018.”
