At present, CCD has 1,497 outlets, out of which three are in square format, 47 in lounge and rest in cafe formats. All these are company owned.
When asked about the investment for the network expansion, Ramakrishnan declined to share a number saying it's privately held company.
"Also, amount of investment varies due to the format of outlets," he said but added that all the 500 new outlets would be company-owned.
CCD has footprints in 200 cities as of now and by 2015 it will spread to about 400 cities, Ramakrishnan said.
The chain positions its cafe outlets as mass segment while lounge are for slightly more affluent customers. CDD has positioned square format outlets as premium stores. Prices and offerings of coffee and food also differs in each format.
CCD Senior Manager-Beverage Innovation Rhicha Sinha said the company is also looking to expanding its range of coffee and non-coffee beverages.
