NEWS| hotel had caught fire, is now on its road to recovery

The Grand New Delhi at Vasant Kunj, which confirmed in its statement that certain areas of its hotel had caught fire, is now on its road to recovery. According to the hotel’s statement, guests staying in the hotel have been evacuated safely.

Ray Mc Shane, General Manager, The Grand New Delhi, says...

"It was an unfortunate incident. Our 'Crisis & Emergency Team' has ensured the safe and speedy evacuation of all guests and staff. We are thankful to the fire and police departments and concerned authorities who helped us cope with the situation." According to McShane, many hotels and industry colleagues came forward to help the hotel and the guests were patient and understanding.

The 182 safely evacuated guests of the hotel were transferred to The Hyatt Regency and Shangri-la. They were given custody of their luggage and personal belongings through the night and the next morning.

Though the exact extent of the damage has not yet been ascertained, public areas such as the lobby, Enoki, Caraway, Cascades Lounge, The Grand Café, The Gourmet Shop and Whiskey Bar outlets have been affected. The fire outbreak caused damage to some additional back areas of the hotel, including the kitchens and the banquet areas. The smoke and soot has affected significant areas like the guest rooms.

According to The Grand New Delhi authorities, all necessary steps were taken to ensure the guests’ well being. All the guests are safe and the hotel is in constant touch with them. The hotel has been cordoned off to ensure safety and security.
