The hotels will mainly cater to the upscale segment. Gateway aims to set up 50 Gateway Hotels, from 31 presently, in India, in the next few years.
There are plans to add 15 new properties and to run five hotels as management contracts. The company will also have owned properties in Pune and Raipur. The Taj in Ahmedabad, which started its operations nine years ago, will be known as The Gateway Hotel Ummed Ahmedabad.
The hotel will still continue to be a standalone property, despite being connected with the Taj in terms of website, reservation, travel agents and corporate contacts.
