Situated along Lamai Beach, the Banyan Tree Samui will have 78 Thai-style villas with peak roofs, private swimming pools and glass walls that either face the beach or the palm-fringed hillsides. There is also a 10-treatment-room spa with water therapy, steam rooms and a room for self-applied mud packs.
Plusher villas translate into rates higher than those at the chain’s property in Bangkok, though on par with its resort in Phuket. Rates begin at $500 night. Guests who stay two nights or longer through September receive a $270 credit to apply to food, spa and shopping charges.
