Until a few weeks ago, all of BSE-listed East India Hotels Ltd’s spa operations were managed by the Singapore-headquartered spa specialist company Banyan Tree Spa. That arrangement has been discontinued and the Indian luxury hotel chain’s spa facilities will now be managed in-house.
Confirming the development to DNA Money, Liam Lambert, president, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, said, “We have come to an agreement with Banyan Tree just two weeks ago that they will withdraw and we will manage all our spa facilities ourselves. The reason being, we have critical mass and we now know how to best manage it.”
DNA could not ascertain if the Oberoi group will launch spa operations under a separate brand. However, senior company officials said spas at the Trident would be branded Trident Spa and in most likelihood, ones in the luxury brand would be branded The Oberoi Spa.
