Prabhjot : What do you think it takes to succeed in hospitality?
Piyush : Lots of hard work, commitment, Personal Relations, Patience- unlimited, and of course the zeal to succeed and provide the best services
Prabhjot : What according to you can trainees do while they are training at hotels to make it a win-win for them & the hotel/unit?
Piyush : work as a team member of the hotel and understand from the very beginning what taking responsibility is all about. In today's days of recession most of the hotels are short staffed and the trainees prove to be very crucial to the day to day operations. Hence they need to learn the fundamentals of hospitality and apply them throughout their careers.
Most of the trainees are very young and fresh out of school, and at times do not realize the importance that they need to give on the learning aspect of training
Prabhjot : How will technology change training in hotels/hospitality?
Piyush : with the advent of new technology training has become easier with ppt's slide shows, lcd presentations by which you can actually show the trainees a very realistic picture of the right and wrong practices in the industry
Prabhjot : What are the attributes you look for while selecting or hiring?
Piyush : Top most - Ability to listen, understand, execute and give feedback. I believe that even an untrained, inexperienced staff can do wonders on the job if he/she has the above attributes and basic common sense. Of course the other things also matter but comprehending what is being said to you and carrying out the task immediately with feedback are my mantras for selecting the candidates
